Elk Run’s ElkFest Unites the Community

In July 2024, Elk Run Assisted Living hosted its inaugural ElkFest in Evergreen, CO. The event had three focuses: wheelchair beautification month, increasing unity within the community and intergenerational interaction.

The number one goal was to have fun with these three items. Incorporating Cassia’s eight service standards—including excellence, innovation, compassion and respect—Elk Run did just that and delivered a wonderful event.

The community took wheelchair beautification month a step further. With the “Strut Your Mobility Parade,” residents declared “I may have a mobile device, but I can be fierce using it!”

Older adults learned new games while introducing some of the classics to younger generations.

The slip ‘n slide gave residents the opportunity to enjoy laughter and “be a kid again.”

“We as a community working together, department with department, team member and resident wanted to showcase ‘Age is only a number and young is an attitude,’” Elk Run Executive Director Miguel Remillard said.

He and the community as a whole consider the event a success and look forward to many ElkFest celebrations in the years to come.
